Kegnaes Lighthouse is at the tip of a peninsula on the southern coast of Als in Denmark. Looking south from the lighthouse, you can see Germany. Some of my ancestors lived in this area, back in the day. I’ve visited this part of Denmark a couple of times in the past few years, and have met some folks that I’m distantly related to who still live in the area! I visited them and celebrated a Danish-style Christmas in 2019. I liked the bare trees in the winter that follow a path leading to the lighthouse. I wanted to make a linocut of this special place.

Here’s my original sketch, and working out the color.

Inking and printing the first color, a light blue.
